REUTERS/Aly Song/File Photo SP New Energy Corp.'s (SPNEC) efforts to build the world's largest solar farm are on full blast with Chinese tech giant Huawei ensuring the P200-billion Terra Solar project is equipped with the “latest” technology in energy storage system.
That project, which spans 100 kilometers of grid infrastructure and operates entirely on solar and battery storage, delivered over 1 terawatt-hour of green electricity in its first year. Huawei's contribution to the MTerra Solar project includes the full 4,500 megawatt-hours capacity of its battery energy storage system.
Regarding large-scale BESS deployment, Huawei recently provided its Smart String ESS LUNA2000-2.0MWH-4HL batteries combined with its Luna 2000-200KTL-HO inverters for a 204MW system in Romania. While the company did not explicitly mention the BESS solution for the Terra Solar project, it did provide details on the features it will include.
